About BattleMath

BattleMath is a free browser game that turns math practice into a Battleship duel. Place your fleet, then fire on the enemy board by solving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems — answer correctly and the shot lands, get it wrong and your turn passes.

What it is

BattleMath is Battleship with the math problem built into every move. There's no separate quiz screen and no points tacked on afterward — solving 7 × 8 correctly is the shot. It runs entirely in the browser, costs nothing, and needs no download or account.

Who it's for

Anyone practicing mental math, from a child just starting on addition and subtraction up to full times tables and division. Difficulty and which operations appear are both adjustable before a game starts, so it fits whatever level a player is actually at — and it works the same way whether that's a classroom, a parent helping at home, or a kid playing for fun.

How it works

Place a fleet on a 2D grid, then take turns firing on the opponent's board. Every shot requires solving a math problem first — get it right and the shot lands where aimed, get it wrong and the turn passes without firing. Sink the whole enemy fleet to win. Play solo against a computer opponent, get matched with a random opponent, or send a friend a link for a real-time 1v1 game.

All four operations

Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division — pick one, several, or all four in a single game.

Adjustable difficulty

Three presets from beginner to advanced, plus a fully custom mode for number range and computer accuracy.

Three ways to play

Solo against the computer, matched with a random opponent, or head-to-head with a friend via a shared link.

Looking for something specific?

BattleMath also has a dedicated multiplication game and a times tables practice mode for drilling exactly the tables that need work, plus a general math games overview covering all four operations.
